Hi again and thanks for that information.

Now that I know it is a Uniden cordless system, and that it is 4 years old, and connected via a router, there are a few different possibilities.

1) Batteries MAY be getting weak, and one of the handsets is "hanging" the main base unit and not allowing you to pick up calls.

2) The main base unit (the part connected to the phone line) is "hung" is some state that will not allow you to receive (or place) calls.

3) The service provider or the "device" that connects you to their service, is "stuck" in some strange state that is not allowing you to receive (or place) calls.

Now since this is happening on ALL of the handsets, I do NOT suspect that this is a battery issue, but more likely an issue with the main base unit OR the router OR both. That is, I noticed that the phone system runs in the 5.8 GHz frequency band, and I suspect that your router MAY also be working in that band. So there COULD be an interference issue coming from the router that is causing the phone system to ring.

So what I would do at this point is to first MOVE the main base unit or the router - in an attempt to CHANGE the possibility of interference.

Next, I would "reset" the entire phone system. This would give it a chance to select slightly different frequencies to use, so that the system is not have interference. I have that procedure below.

Cordless system "reset" procedure.
This is done by following the steps below.

1) Remove the batteries from ALL handsets in the system.
2) Remove the phone cord from the main base unit AND the phone jack in the wall.
3) Remove the AC power adapter plug from the main base unit AND remove the AC adapter from the power outlet.
4) WAIT 15 minutes. This allows any "stuck" conditions in the components to clear.
5) Reconnect the batteries in all handsets.
6) Reconnect the phone cord between the main base and the phone jack in the wall.
7) Reconnect the AC power adapter plug in the main base unit and then plug the AC adapter into the wall power outlet.
8) Wait 30-60 seconds for the system to reinitialize.
9) Test each handset for proper function.
10) Test each function of the main base unit (answering system, caller id, etc.).

The last thing I would do is "reset" the router - to see if it is indeed causing the issue, and the reset may clear that. To reset the router, simply disconnect the main power from the device, then wait about 30-60 seconds, and then reconnect the power again. Wait about another minute and then TEST - to see if you can place a call AND receive a call.

Please give these things a try and let me know your results or REPLY if you have more questions or symptoms. There are other steps we may be able to take to further troubleshoot this issue.
