Sorry to hear of the issue you are having with your phone.

Can you tell me the Model Number of the device you are working with?
Since this is a cordless system, please look for the model number on the back or bottom of the main base unit of the system.

Hi again and thanks for that information.

If you still have the manual for this system, you should find the information for entering (and exiting) silent mode on pages 9 & 10. But I have the same information for you below.

================================
1. With the phone in standby, press and hold # on any handset. The phone prompts you to select the number of hours (1 - 9 or Always On) that you want it to stay in silent mode.

2. To confirm, press # or just wait about 5 seconds. The phone displays Silent Mode On on each handset.

3. After the selected number of hours, the phone automatically exits silent mode. To exit silent mode manually, press and hold # again.

Please give that a try and let me know the results. If that does not work, there may be more steps we can take.

How do I get the phone in "standby"?

Standby mode just means that you are NOT in a call.
This assumes that everything else is connected and working normally.

I purchased this phone system 2/8/2012 at Walgreens. This "Silent On" started about 1 week ago.

Hi again & thanks for that information.

OK - what I would like you to do is first check the TIME and DATE that is shown in the system. This is because the "silent mode" is tied to the date and time.

If the time and date look to be accurate, then I would do a FULL RESET on the system, and then reset the date and time. I have the instructions for a full system reset below.

Cordless system "reset" procedure. This is done by following the steps below.
============================
1) Remove the batteries from ALL handsets in the system.
2) Remove the phone cord from the main base unit AND the phone jack in the wall.
3) Remove the AC power adapter plug from the main base unit AND remove the AC adapter from the power outlet.
4) WAIT 15 minutes. This allows any "stuck" conditions in the components to clear.
5) Reconnect the batteries in all handsets.
6) Reconnect the phone cord between the main base and the phone jack in the wall.
7) Reconnect the AC power adapter plug in the main base unit and then plug the AC adapter into the wall power outlet.
8) Wait 30-60 seconds for the system to reinitialize.
9) Test each handset for proper function.
10) Test each function of the main base unit (answering system, caller id, etc.).
