How do Calcium channel blockers work and are they better

Customer Question

How do Calcium channel blockers work and are they better than Lisinopril at reducing BP? I heard CHB's decrease constriction of the vessels is this correct?

Thanks for your question.

Calcium channel blockers widen the blood vessels. This causes the heart to pump blood more efficiently by reducing the pressure against which heart has to pump blood.

There are particular indications where particular drugs are recommended.

For example in chronic kidney disease patients lisinopril can be used but calcium channel blockers cannot be used.

In hypertensives having no co morbidity either can be used .
