No problem...most physicians would not have a problem prescribing promethazine with codeine for a week or two to get you through a bad cold. They will probably want you to try OTC products first, and so if have already done this without relief, be sure to inform them. I do not have any personal recommendations on physicians in LA, but could do a search for top rate ones if that helps you. If you have a bottle of Promethazine with Codeine with your name on it, taking that with you to the appointment will also help.

Robitussin products do not require a prescription. Robitussin AC (Guaifenesin with Codeine) can be sold without a prescription in some states...it is kept behind the pharmacy counter and must be signed for when purchasing. You can usually get up to 4 oz.

We are not able to provide prescriptions on this site and because Promethazine with Codeine is controlled, you will not be able to get it legally online.

Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) requires a prescription. California does not allow Guaifenesin with Codeine to be purchased OTC (some states do, but not CA) and so that would also require a prescription. Describe the severity of your symptoms, explain that you have tried OTC without relief, you have used Promethazine with Codeine in the past and it worked well and you would like to try it again. Although it is a C5 controlled substance, its abuse potential is low and so a physician would probably not have a problem writing a limited supply.
