Are Losartan and Losartan Potassium the same drug? The Losartan I have been using is white and oval or square oval shape. the Losartan Potassium just received is green and round.

Hello. I would like to help you find an answer.

What was the reason for the change? Did you go generic?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I was originally on CoZaar and went generic when it was available several years ago. Have been on Losartan since then. I use FEP service and this year they changed providers from Medco to Caremark. I finished out my prescription with Caremark but today when received I found them to be different and I don't want to take them unless they are the same. they are both 100,mg

yes, they are the same. It is simply a different formulation of the drug. The active ingredient is the same though.

You are fine to use it.

As I am 83 I am very cautious. This is the only med I take but I wanted to be sure before I took it. Thank you so much.

You're welcome. Yes, it is safe.

Take care.
