Thank you for your question. There is an interaction between norvasc and simvastatin. The manufacturer recommends a maximum dose of simvastatin of 20mg/day while taking norvasc. However, your dose (20 versus 10) will depend on your cholesterol and blood lipid panel that has to be determined by blood tests. If you don't have side effects such as muscle pain/weakness then don't decrease or modify your dose without your prescriber's knowledge. I don't think that the 10mg is "safer" than the 20mg. For you, you may need the higher dose to bring your cholesterol under better control so talk this over with your prescriber.
