Thank you for the question.
Unfortunately, Prexige was never approved by the FDA. There were too many concerns with liver toxicity.

i can recall patients being given an iv single dose of Prexige following orthpaedic operations. The anaesthetist informed me that there is a significant reduction in requirement for post operative opiats. I thought that in fact seemed to be the case.

At this time Prexige was not available in tablet form in Australia and I was looking forward to being able to prescribe this product when it became avaliable in tablet form.

My experience was that it was not as good as Voltaren so I did not use it for very long.

I have not thought about this for about six years until yesterday when I saw a lady with rhumatoid disease and bilateral hip and knee arthritis who as an aside informed me that she had had a liver transplant consequent to being on Prexige.

I cannot recall the trade name of the intravenus drug, but I am fairly sure that it was in fact Prexige or Lumiracoxib that was the drug being used.

Thanks for that information. Are you referring to use of Prexige outside the United States? If so, it was never approved in the U.S. In Europe and Australia it was available from 2006 to 2007 but pulled do to hepatotoxicity.
