Since you have only been on it for 6 days and at such a low dose, there should be no problem stopping cold turkey. However, in the off chance if you do experience any withdrawal reactions (a few listed: agitation, confusion, impaired coordination, dizziness, nausea, sensory disturbances, tremor, vomiting), contact your doctor immediately. As I said though, since the dose and duration are so low, this should not be a problem.
I would also discuss this decision with your doctor, prior to stopping it, to let them know you have experienced these side effects and would like to stop.

With regards ***** ***** John Wort, as you may already know, this is a non-prescription herbal supplement. Therefore, there really is no good evidence-based literature available since it does not go through the FDA approval process or the required clinical trials demonstrating safety and efficacy. With that said, I've seen a few patients that have used this medication with some positive results. However, my major concern is the drug interactions that St. John Wort causes. It interferes with how many medications are metabolized and excreted. Since it is a non-prescription drug, it is hard for doctors or pharmacists to see this in your medication list, and might miss a potential high-risk interaction. Otherwise, the adverse effects associated with it are lower than effexor, but it does not come without any. These side effects can include: gastrointestinal symptoms, dizziness, headache, photosensitivity, polyneuropathy, confusion, urinary frequency, allergic reactions, and fatigue. Now, if you're relatively healthy otherwise with no other medications that you are taking, it might be worth a try.
As for the side effects you're experiencing with effexor, each patient is different. Some may experience side effects at lower doses than most, which seems to be the group you fit into. The 2 weeks that you are referring to is time of onset for clinical effect. Side effects though can occur anytime after you start taking a medication.

There are a lot of people who suffer from anxiety that have been successfully treated with effexor. To the same extent, genetics vary from one individual to another and therefore, it is possible that some people that have genetic properties that won't let them respond the same way others do.
I always practice under the rule of lets try fixing the problem without medications, and revert to them when non-pharmacologic therapy isn't working. I also want my patients to know what to expect when they take their medications, so most pharmacists try to council their patients. So the next time your physician doesn't have time to do it, please speak to your pharmacist during the pick up - they will help out.
As for your side effects, I would agree that they are "mild" in the spectrum of possible side effects.
