With relation to your question of whether or not it can hurt to stop taking the last two pills, the answer is yes, it can hurt. The erythromycin was given decrease bacteria in the intestine and help prevent postoperative infection. Not taking the erythromycin can lead to an abdominal infection after the procedure. I would recommend contacting your surgeon to discuss alternatives if there is time. It is also recommended to keep you husband adequately hydrated. Fluids with electrolytes (Gatorade, etc...) may help better replenish the body than just regular water.
