Hello, I’m Kristen and I will be your Veterinary Assistance today, and as always, it’s my pleasure to assist you today. I may ask for some preliminary information to help me determine the condition or symptoms.

I do not have the facility to make phone calls. You will be offered a call automatically by the system and if accepted, you will be transferred to another agent and this chat will end. You can chose to decline and continue on the chat

Och I am so sorry to hear Bluey's little ones didnt make it.

Its possible that the loss of the babies is causing this behavior but if she is crying and not eating it would indicate that there is something else underlying. Possibly this is also the cause of the babies passing away.

I would take her for a checkover just to make sure all has come away ok from her uterus and nothing has been retained as this will not only cause her to be in pain, it can become infected and be very dangerous for her.

I would also have a feel at her tummy to make sure there isnt another baby in there due to her age. Over 1 year old they can have a much more difficult time giving birth as their pelvis become fused and it makes it much harder for the young to be born so I do think it does warrant further investigation.

In the meantime though you need to make sure she doesnt go into digestive stasis by syringe feeding her food. If you have critical care then great but if not, soften her pellets in boiling water and once soft, add cold to cool them down. This will make them a consitency you can use a syringe of dropper to feed her with.

Digestive stasis is an extremely dangerous condition for a guinea pig and can be fatal very quickly so you would need to intervene now to prevent this from happening. The vet can also give pain meds and gut motilty aids to help with this too

I will be going offline soon for the rest of the weekend and I hope this information has been helpful to you. Do let me know how she is getting on if you can. Just use this chat thread to send a message through.

I trust that everything has now been answered to your satisfaction. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to get back to me on JustAnswer. In the meantime, I wish you all the best.

I appreciate it but she passed away this morning in her sleep

Oh my goodness I am so very sorry for your loss.

At least she went peacefully in her sleep and you can take some comfort from that. Rest in peace little Bluey
