Customer: I have a guinie pig. Her right eye is red and there is cloudy discharge coming from it. I’m wondering what I can do to help her aside from flushing to out with warm water and tapping it dry
JA: I'll do all I can to help. When did you notice the pig had this cloudy eye? Does she have any allergies?
Customer: just a couple days ago. But now it’s getting redder and her top eyelid is inflamed
JA: And what's the pig's name and age?
Customer: Frappecinno. And 10 months old
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: got her in November and she was 6 months then

I don’t mind I’m just worried about her

I understand your concern.  Can you upload close-up photos of the right eye to our conversation?  You can upload photos by using the paperclip or add file icons above your message box...if you can see those icons on your device.  You can also use an external app such as dropbox or navigate to justanswer.com/help/using-justanswer and scroll down to "other".  Finally, you can send photos to***@******.*** but they can take quite some time to reach me in that manner. State the subject line as "for Dr.MichaelSalkin".

I see severe conjunctivitis most often of bacterial origin.

Various bacteria can be isolated from the conjunctival sac in these pets diagnosed with conjunctivitis with Chlamydophila caviae most common in young pets. Over the counter (not in all states) Terramycin ophthalmic ointment* dosed as a dab on to the cornea (clear window of the eye) thrice daily for 10 consecutive days is a good choice of treatments. If you can't find this ointment over the counter, the next best choice is https://vetericyn.com/product/vetericyn-plus-antimicrobial-ophthalmic-gel/ Discontinue its use if you see worsening rather than improvement.

Customer
Thank you again.

My best to Frappecinno!

Thank you for choosing JustAnswer.  It was my pleasure assisting you.

Customer
What would I do with her having more rapid breathing??
Customer
With frappe having rapid breathing what would I do to help her with that
I'm now concerned that her eye infection is one part of a more systemic infection involving her lungs.  These pigs then need the attention of a rodent vet who can prescribe a systemic antibiotic such as enrofloxacin dosed at 5 - 20 mg/kg twice daily (adults only) or a suspension of trimethoprim-sulfa dosed at 15 - 30 mg/kg twice daily.  Your local veterinary association can refer you to such a vet.  I regret that vets aren't allowed to prescribe through this venue.
Customer
if I can't do that she'll probably pass correct??
Customer
Or if I administer vitamin c to her that would help her?? Make sure she has very clean bedding??

Yes, pneumonia is a killer.  More vitamin C certainly couldn't hurt and clean bedding is a plus.

Customer
Is there anything else I could do for her is there a rx I could buy at a pharmacy??
Customer
How long do you think she has or do you think she'll be able to pull thru?

Untreated, he can be lost within days.  Treatment can be curative.  He's a very cute guinea pig.

Customer
she is
Customer
Could you refer me to someone more in my area?
Customer
How much do you think it’d be to treat her??
Customer
Could her companion get it?

I regret that I'm not familiar with vets in your area but the local veterinary association can refer you to one who attends to rodents.  I also regret that I can't know what you would be charged and so always ask for a written estimate prior to anything being done.

Yes, she's contagious to her companion.

Customer
I don’t get how she got it.

The infectious agents are found in our environment and guinea pigs may be carriers of them from soon after birth.

Customer
Do I have to look for an exotic

Not necessarily.  Many general vets attend to guinea pigs.

Customer
