This could be an abscess but may also be a tumor. I would suggest allowing your vet to take a look and perform a fine needle aspirate to see what is inside. From there, a treatment plan can be made ranging from lancing and draining (if an abscess) with antibiotics and pain meds during healing to surgical removal of the tumor (assuming an abscess is not present).
At home, I would suggest cleaning the area 2x daily with saline, patting dry gently and dabbing on regular Neosporin (not the variety with pain relief). Rub in well. Avoid bedding that might stick to the area. You can purchase an OTC saline solution or make your own at home by combining one cup of boiling tap water to 1 tbsp of table salt. Dissolve and allow to come to room temp before using.
