I’m very concerned about my sweet little female betta fish.

Hi Pearl! I’m very concerned about my sweet little female betta fish. A few days ago I upgraded her to a significantly larger tank (5.5 gallons, has a filter, heater, and thermometer) with 7 neon tetras for friends. She’s not territorial, and she seems to be getting along fine with them. I rinsed all of her decorations, rinsed the gravel, added tap water that was treated with Stress Coat,(supposedly a conditioner and health-smart treatment) A few drops of Ich treatment as prevention, (she and her tank mate both got Ich a little while after I first bought them) and a bit of plant nourishing liquid for the 3 live plants in the tank. Recently, she’s been acting very strange though, and I’m paranoid because I recently lost one of my bettas to dropsy. She doesn’t seem that interested in food, and she often lies at the bottom of the tank. At first I thought she might just be resting, but then I realized I’ve never really seen her do that before. When she swims, it seems labored, like she’s struggling not to sink. I did a short fast to check for swim bladder, but nothing changed. She looks like she’s twitching, and it’s really scaring me. She just does it all of a sudden, like she’s shivering in the cold, but her water is at an ideal temp. There’s not a lot of info on twitchy fish, although a few sights have said it may be Velvet. I checked her with a flashlight, and she looked normal. In an effort to combat it in case of missed something, I’ve covered her tank so it won’t be exposed to light, done a 35% water change, and added some warm water in an effort to increase the temp. Her scales look normal and not pineconed, and she doesn’t appear to be constipated. I’m just so worried. She’s developed some stress striped over the past few months, and her dorsal fin seems a little clamped. Please help, because I’m FREAKING out!!! :(

Veterinarian's Assistant: Hi there. I'll do all I can to help. Have you given the betta fish anything to help with the constipation?

That’s the thing, it doesn’t really feel like she’s constipated. I’ll try giving her some peas, because I’ve read that that can help.

Veterinarian's Assistant: What's the betta fish's name and age?

Her name is ***** ***** I’ve had her for about 6 months. I did purchase her from a pet store, so I’m not certain of her exact age.

She’s really sweet? :) I don’t know, I kind of word-vomited just about everything I can think of. Sorry about that by the way.
