Hi Pat. I asked if you could arrange to test the water. That swelling and dis coloring near the gills is not part of constipation. Something wrong with the water could account for it. Don't use the paper strips you dip in the water as they are often inaccurate. Get a test kit that uses test tubes and chemicals you add to water samples. API makes a good one. After you test, give me the results in parts per million (ppm) for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrites. Also the pH.
