Are willow trees poisonous to horses

Customer Question

We have planted a willow tree in our pony's paddock and we heard they are poisonous to equines, is that true?

Rest easy, Willow trees are not poisonous to equines!

The trees to be concerned about are Black Walnut, Wild Cherry, Black Locust, Yew, Red Maple, Domestic Cherry, Peach, and Plum trees, and Oak trees. There are also some shrubs you should be concerned about, such as Oleander, and quite a few toxic plants commonly found in pastures such as Yellow Star Thistle and Poison Hemlock. Good luck,
