Hello and welcome. My name is ***** ***** I’m a biologist with over 20 years of experience keeping reptiles. I’ll be happy to help you.

The only way it’s safe to have two bearded dragons is if they each have their own tank. I’ll explain, but it will take me a few minutes to type my answer. I appreciate your patience.

Thank you for waiting. I’m sure you’ve seen the pet store cages full of baby beardies living together. They are really cute. They generally will get along for a few months until they reach sexual maturity. In nature, bearded dragons are solitary. They only get together during mating season, and then only for a few minutes at a time. Mating itself is rather violent.

If you get two males or two females, they will fight. Serious injuries can occur, for example, legs or tails torn off. If you get a male and a female, fights may still occur, but the biggest danger is when they mate. Males are very aggressive and rough, and females can be injured. But don’t underestimate the female. If she decides she has had enough if his behavior, she can inflict major wounds. Bearded dragon breeders don’t keep males and females together. They only put them together to mate, and they supervise that process closely.

I f you have more concerns, just let me know. I’m glad to help.
