I have a 10? year old RES or yellow belly. No red ears so
I have a 10 ? year old RES or yellow belly. No red ears so think yellow belly. I have noticed a slight slime coating on top of water and white wispy stuff floating mostly on top of water. I skimmed it out 3 days ago and brushed her shell. Then yesterday noticed it iwas back. So I emptied tank, threw away old float dock, cleaned filter and used a light beach/water to really clean tank. Rinsed well. Did not put filter back and only 10gal of water. It is a 75 gal tank but usually only have 20 gal in it. refilled with distilled store bought water. Woke up to day and it is back. So I think it is coming from Gertie. Is this a fungus? Can I treat at home? Any help will be appreciated. Also is ther a charge for this help? … read more

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
