Customer: My veiled chameleon, 17 month old started laying her first clutch 3 days ago. She has so far laid a total of 9 in 3 days and I'm worried she is dying. She looks pale, her eyes are sinking a bit, she seems weaker but still has a grip and some mobility but is more clumsy. I'm having trouble sleeping, I don't know if she will survive the night.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help the chameleon.
Customer: Her belly still felt kind of soft, I don't think I feel eggs, but at the same time they are soft themselves. I did a tiny bit of cal+D3 dissolved in 1 tsp water and gave her a few drops, but she didn't look like she swallowed. She keeps opening her mouth to "yawn", too. Before she got this way, I witnessed her open her mouth wide with a puffy chin and swing her heard side to side like she was straining or silently screaming. Her color is light green, close to pale green if that helps She hasn't shown any stress colors
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the chameleon?
Customer: She has been kept in a temp range between 75 and 80, humidity has been a challenge last couple of weeks, but most of the time it was at 65; lately between 40 and 50 which I corrected with a humidifier and extra water fountain. It's her first clutch and she started at laying at the bottom of her cage, then a little in her lay bin, and then back out again.

Hi, this is Dr Hill. Have you been supplementing her routinely with calcium? When is the last time she ate?

Customer
she got supplements twice weekly. Her last bite was a dusted cricket on Tues. Before that, one hornworm on Monday.
