My iguana hasn't eaten...

My iguana hasn't eaten in two weeks and is refusing food and not moving around a lot, what do I do?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. The Expert will know if your iguana will be able to digest that. What is the iguana's name?

Emerald. She's a green iguana

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Emerald?

She's lethargic. Not drinking water. Not eating. We offer her fresh food every day. She's about two years old.

If Emerald is not currently eating she's going to need to be examined and treated by a reptile veterinarian. If you will share your state of residence with me, I can help you locate one. There are a wide range of medical problems which might be to blame here from intestinal parasites and protozoan to foreign body ingestion to metabolic problems to infection. Your veterinarian will be able to help you determine the cause of her feeling unwell, not wanting to eat and address the problem to get her back to eating normally.

In what state do you reside?

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
