I have five neon tree dragons of which three have cream

Customer Question
I have five neon...

I have five neon tree dragons of which three have cream colored growths on their exterior. One of the three exhibited paralysis and died recently. The growth on his back was on his spine, The other two have several growths on various locations on their skin. All growths appear alike , milky white, raised, and crusty without any discharge

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Some lumps are serious and some aren't. Let's see what the Veterinarian has to say. What is the dragon's name and age?

All affected dragons are adults, two females and one male. The male has died exhibiting paralysis on the rear legs and exhibited sideway head movement. The exact age s are unknown. I have not named these lizards

Veterinarian's Assistant: What is the dragon's name?

Japalura splendida

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Japalura?

Their color and body form shows no distinguishable deformities other than the 1/8" growths

The two Japaluras afflicted with exterior crusty bumps have not demonstrated any behavioral abnormalities. The third, before passing demonstrated paralysis and wanted to lay in water.

I have discovered on the internet under "Japalura splendida diseases" that an untreatable viral infection, somewhat unique to this species, is causing "mass mortality" . It was discovered in 2011 affecting this reptile brought in from China.
Thanks for your inquiries but I need no further information regarding this affection.

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
