40 gallon tank with sand subsrate...warm side 90' with 105' peak basking area that is a multilayer of grape vine ...cold side is aroind 75' and that is where the water dish is and is where she is spending most of her time ...shes housed with a male and doesnt spend that much time in the water ...is she prego ?
Reptile Expert: Joan, Veterinary Technician replied 1 year ago

Thank-you! You should remove the sand. It is deadly. It is ingested over time can cause a blockage. It is also an irritant of the skin and can cause eye issues. I suggest cage carpet, tile or paper. The next issue is that we never house two dragons together. A male will over breed a female. One breeding and she can lay eggs the whole season.

As far as if she is Gravid, a gravid female will act like she wants to escape and glass dance as well as will be digging. I will give you some information on preparing in case she is Gravid to prepare:

http://repticzone.com/articles/beardeddragonbreeding101hrtmtn.html

The laying in the water is usually several reasons. The Dragon needs to pass stool, is overheated or getting ready to shed. At this point in time I would take a watch and see if all is normal other than the staying in the water.

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
