Customer: I have 2 questions for both my 2 lizards. My lizards are mountain horned dragons and one of them seems to be getting fat. I thought it was maybe pregnant but it never seems to lay any eggs. Do you know how long it takes for a mountain horned dragon to lay its eggs? And for the other lizard I noticed some white spots/marks on it back and head. At first I thought it was shedding skin but its not because it never goes away and when I took a closer look I saw it was not skin. Do you know what this white marks might be?

It can take up to 4 months after breeding to lay her eggs. The MHD will start gaining weight and at that time you may suspect that your female is Gravid. You can read more about egg laying here and what to look for: http://www.froggieb.com/MHDCaresheet.html#laying

Retained shed, dehydration and fungal infections can all cause the white spots that you have described. My suggestion would be to have a Herp Vet check out the areas. I would still do the soaks and have water available for the MHD to go in and soak itself. You may also want you check and make sure your MHD is not getting too close to the lights which can cause burns.

If you need a Herp Vet, this is a link for ones in Canada: http://www.triciaswaterdragon.com/canrepvt.htm
