I have a Red Eared Slider, around 16 years old. For a month
For a month now he's been having problems with tremors in his legs. About a month ago one of his legs stopped working. I went to his vet, a reptile specialist and he was given a treatment with Vit A and Vit B. A couple of days later his other front paw became swollen, so we did an X-Ray and bloodwork to see what was wrong. His X-Ray was fine, no problems with his bones and lungs but his bloodwork showed very elevated liver enzymes and elevated pee acidity (no idea what the word in English is for that). After this he was given a new therapy - injections of liquids twice a day 20ml. This helped a lot and 10 days later he was as good as new until 4 days ago when 3 of hus legs stopped working. We have tried to draw blood yesterday but we were unsuccessful and will try again next week. For the moment he's being treated with fluid injections 20ml a day + Vit B and Vit A (I think with calcium). … read more

I must tell you I found this site by accident and was amazed when I asked a question of the Veteranians online. I wish I could have found it sooner it could have made such a difference in the outcome of my pet's surgery. However, I am passing along the information to my sister-in-law (a cat-rescue person who is also a nurse), and perhaps it will help someone else who may experience the same problem. The doctor who answered my question was amazing, and while it didn't come it time to change the outcome of my situation, it is reassuring to know the caliber of Vets/Doctors that you have at JustAnswer. Thank you for being there.
