Hi my dog is a mini Schnauzer and is 13 1/2 years old. He has a brain tumor diagnosed at age 11 (over two years ago). He has daily seizures and has Phenobarbital prescription he takes twice a day. He is also on Gabapentin twice a day. Last night he had this ‘episode' where he was lying on his side. His eyes were half open and he was barely blinking. He didn't respond to me for five minutes. Then afterwards when he could get up he was totally confused walking around the kitchen staring at random things. I picked him up gently and put him in my bed to sleep next to me just Incase. He normally sleeps in his dog bed. For another hour he had no reflexes. He just lied there seemingly sleeping. I tried the pain reflex with squeezing his paw multiple times and there was no response. His eyes were rolled back (I checked them) and when I put my finger to his eye there was no response. He let me touch his eye. I let him sleep and this morning he still appears dizzy and tired, but he ate a treat and is walking around. I wonder what the heck happened last night? Was it a stroke? A series of seizures? His brain tumor progressing? His tongue was sticking out this morning and he seems to not be hearing things as well as he used to. Also he doesn't see so good out of his left eye. How can he not have reflexes and live through that? I've had pets die and usually when they don't have reflexes they die. Any help will be appreciated. He has been a part of our family for almost 14 years. We love him so much, my daughter does too. How can he act more himself today after that? It scared me so much! … read more
