Hello, JACustomer. I have been a Veterinary Nurse for over 15 years and would be happy to help you today. I'm reviewing your question right now.

Ask Your Own Dog Question

Dogs with disc issues commonly do show signs of pain, but this is not always the case and, as such, it could still be part of the issue. Have any diagnostics been performed thus far such as x-rays? Is she on any medication right now, such as a joint supplement or NSAID medication for mobility? Have pain meds been tried to see if they help her at all?

No medications or supplements,X-rays normal

If your companion is not already on a joint supplement, I would recommend starting one. My favorite are http://www.glycoflex.com products. At home, you can administer aspirin if no other medications are being given. Dosing info is available here: http://www.veterinaryplace.com/dog-medicine/aspirin-for-dogs/ I would also recommend talking to your vet about using canine-safe NSAID therapy as well as pain medication therapy, such as Rimadyl combined with Tramadol. If there is any degree of pain that might be causing the symptoms, you may notice an improvement. I want to also mention that an MRI, CT or Myelogram may be needed to diagnose disc issues if the x-rays are normal. You can learn more here: http://sevneurology.com/articles/intervertebral-disk-disease-ivdd-in-dogs/
