My 12 year old Chesapeake bay retriever got groomed today.

Hello. My 12 year old...
Hello. My 12 year old Chesapeake bay retriever got groomed today. Was doing just fine but when he was home for a while, became increasingly lethargic and not wanting to move. We were able to get him to drink some water earlier today, but now he won't drink or eat. He even fell over with his hind legs stiff this evening. He urinated on himself tonight but has been able to move a short distance if we really try to get him too. If he stands for too long, he really starts to get short of breath. He had been a really healthy dog until the last 3 years. We found out he has lymphoma and hypothyroidism so he has been on low dose of prednisone and is on thyroid meds. Not sure if he is in pain with hip or back issues suddenly or if something else could be going on. We were going to wait until tomorrow to take him to a vet but if this sounds like an emergency, I don't want him dying in the middle of the night... please help with advice!

Hi, Dr W here. I'm sorry to hear this and I agree it is concerning. When you say he fell over with his hind legs stiff thatgreatly concerns me. Of course I wasn't there to see it, but it sounds like it could have been a syncopal episode (like a fainting spell) which could be from low blood pressure or heart issues. I would err on the side of caution in this case and take him to the ER tonight. It’s my pleasure to help you and your pet! If you have more questions or if I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to ask! I’ll be online for another hour or so. Please remember to “accept” my answer, AND RATE OUR CONVERSATION 5-STARS (so I will receive credit for helping you). Bonuses are always welcome. (I am not compensated in any other way). Thanks and have a great night!
