Hello,

My name is ***** ***** I have been a Vet tech for 35+ years. I would like to assist you.

I am going to suggest an ER Vet visit based on the symptoms you are describing. A Pyometra is a Uterine infection we we see in dogs 2-8 weeks after a heat. It is usually happening in middle age to older dogs. The symptoms we see is excessive thirst, bloating of the abdomen, fever. and lethargy. With an Open pyometra you may see a discharge from the vaginal area, but with a closed Pyometra the pus and infection does not drain and can cause the bloating you are seeing. This is an critical and urgent issue. I have to suggest an ER Vet visit to rule this out and if a Pyometra she needs to be seen as soon as possible for medical attention.

This is some information on a Pyometra:

https://www.vetwest.com.au/pet-library/pyometra-in-dogs

I am hoping I am wrong, but in any case your girl sounds very ill and should be seen.

How is your dog doing? Were you able to have her seen by the Vet? I would love an update.
