Ingested Ice cubes gum. Full container. 40 pieces

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What sort of animal are we talking about?

Husky 8 months old. Stopped breathing and possibly heart stopped as well. He is now back to normal

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. The Expert will know if the Husky will be able to digest that. What is the Husky's name?

Nyack

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Nyack?

He was unresponsive for about five minutes. He was given CPR and rallied. He stayed down for 20 minuets and slowly came around to normal.

Can you share a link to the exact product your companion consumed?

How long ago were the gum pieces eaten?

How is he at this time?

Askhershey.comIt’s grape ice cubes gum. He seems to have completely recovered. We are taking him to our vet in the AM. He stopped breathing and heart may have stopped he got very stiff and was given CPR. He came around after being down for about an hour.

Askhershey.com does not bring up the exact product. Is it this one? https://www.hersheys.com/icebreakers/en_us/products/ice-cubes-arctic-grape.html

that’s the product.

Are you still there?

If you have the option to take Nyack to an ER vet this evening, I would go right now. You're already describing the first symptoms that we see in a xylitol toxicity caused by the gum but liver failure is apt to follow without aggressive treatment with such a heavy ingestion of gum. You can read more about this here: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/xylitol-toxicity-in-dogs I am very worried that an ER vet visit tomorrow morning may be too late. Do you need help finding an ER facility?

No. We have one about 25 miles away. We will take him now.

I think this is the best plan available. I will keep an eye out for the next few hours if you have any additional questions. I wish you the best of luck!

Re: phone contact on 01/01/18. We were told the phone contact was cancelled. However it appeared on our phone bill. I received a phone message from a vet the following morning but did not speak to him. Had we waited to speak to a vet our dog would probably be dead. The info we received from PittRottmommmy however saved his life.
