I think my four month old retriever has a bladder infection.

Customer Question
I think my four...

I think my four month old retriever has a bladder infection. Symptoms started earlier today. She is already potty trained for the most part and wants to repeatedly go out. She when I take her out she squats like she has to pee. She does this repeatedly until I make her come inside. She is also doing in the house. Since she is pretty much potty trained, this is unusual. I gave her some apple cider vinegar and some orange juice. She just seems to be having a lot of discomfort. Is there anything I can do until I can get her to the vet tomorrow?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. There are all sorts of infections the dog can pick up. I'll have you talk to the Veterinarian who'll sort out what is wrong and help you decide what to do about it. What is the dog's name?

Her name is Hope

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Hope?

Nope. I just had her at the vet a week ago for vaccinations and deworming and heart worm meds.

Hello and thank you for using this site to help you. I am sorry your question was not picked up sooner and I am not sure you still need help with this.

As for what you can do at home: just be sure there is plenty of fresh water access to help her flush out the bladder. Any infection is going to need antibiotics from your Vet.

Another possibility for this would be the presence of bladder stones. The sample of urine should help detect this.
