Her tongue and mouth...

Her tongue and mouth is cold

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What is the matter with the dog?

Could this be from excessive panting due to an anxiety attack

Veterinarian's Assistant: Where does the dog seem to hurt?

She doesn't seem to hurt

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. No obvious pain. What is the dog's name and age?

Rylee and she is almost 8

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Rylee?

She has been getting scared....whining...not eating...hiding on our bed

Thank you for your question about Rylee. How has she been acting over the past couple hours? Has she been eating and drinking well today? Any vomiting?

Ask Your Own Dog Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
She ate this morning about 12hrs ago...nothing tonight...no vomitting. She has been acting strange for a couple weeks now and went a day here and there without eating...her panting and CD tongue and mouth scared me...her tongue was hanging out of her mouth when she was laying down
Dog Specialist: Dr. Bruce, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Thank your for that information. A few more questions. What breed is she? Is she breathing with a normal rate and effort? Are her gums pink?

I meant cold ...she is almost 8...german shepherd...she is panting and fast heart beat
Dog Specialist: Dr. Bruce, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

If you look at the color of her gums, are they nice and pink? Is she seeming weak and not as energetic?

Her gums are pale pink...she just wants to lay down
Dog Specialist: Dr. Bruce, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Ok. I'm concerned here. She's an older german shepherd and she's breathing / panting and her gums are pale pink. What I'm most worried about here is that this type of a situation could be due to internal bleeding from a mass on her spleen. I know this sounds like I'm looking for the worst case scenario here, but at my ER, we see this type of a case pretty often. When they have a mass on the spleen, it can for no good reason get weak and start to bleed. When it does, they start to get weak. They pant. They get pale gums. They can sometimes have a visible distention to their abdomen. I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill, but this could be the mountain. I would get her to your vet / ER clinic now to have her checked over. If she has the bleeding abdominal mass, then the situation is a very critical one. It is a situation where an owner gets presented with the recommendation for surgery.

Is it possible to be anxiety attack and what can I do for her
Dog Specialist: Dr. Bruce, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

If she's never had anxiety attacks, then why would she be having one now?

Could this be something that isn't serious at this time? I am just saying that based on my experiences, this age of a German Shepherd with these signs could be something very serious / life threatening. There isn't a lot an owner can do at home but to have them in a quiet area for rest. There are no medications that can be given. Getting to your vet / the ER clinic is where you are being proactive to see if this is something serious and then being able to have the options presented at that time about what can be done.
