I'm happy to reassure you that in most cases, ingestion of these sorts of household cleaners will not be toxic....they can be irritants but nothing more. Depending on the amount ingested, they might cause some gastric distress, (vomiting or possibly diarrhea) but other than that, they aren't particularly harmful.

The products which might cause significant damage would be those which have the word "danger" versus "caution" on the label; Drano is one example. If the label says caution, that means ingestion may cause mild gastrointestinal issues; however, if it says danger, it means it could corrode through your esophagus.

If diarrhea should develop, then a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice should resolve the problem within a few days.

If vomiting develops, then just delay feeding for several hours.

If you haven't already done so, you could rinse out his mouth with cool water several times.

But, he should be fine and I hope this helps to provide peace of mind. Deb
