Hello, JACustomer. I have been a Veterinary Nurse for over 15 years and would be happy to help you today. I'm reviewing your question right now.

Good morning, JACustomer. If the third eyelid is visible across the eye after 4 days it's time to have it examined. There may be a foreign body in the eye, such as hair, or even a corneal ulcer. It would be ideal to have this done sooner than later or permanent damage may occur. Chances are your vet will place a few numbing drops into the eye, pull the membrane back and check under it, apply a dye stain to the eye to help him visualize any ulcers and later prescribe eye meds based on what is found.
