My dog has dry eye and an ulcer on his eye. We took him the our veterinarian yesterday where they gave him oil we put into his eyes 3 times a day and an ointment, veteopolycin. My dog hasn't eaten or drank water all day and is now panting and shaking like he's cold. What should I do?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. The Veterinarian will know if your dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Bobo, age 10yr shizu
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Bobo?
Customer: That's all

Will the vet comment here or via email

My name is***** and I am sorry to hear that Bobo has dry eye. This is very common in shih tzus. I am going to ask a few more questions to get a better idea about what is going on with Bobo-

-What day did you take him to the vet?

-were any other medications prescribed besides the eye ointments?

-can you take his temperature? Does he have a fever?

-any other symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, sneezing, coughing, etc?

Please let me know the answers to these questions so that I can help you today,

We went yesterday to the Vet. No other meds were given. He feels a little warm but I don't have a thermometer.

Will Bobo eat any human food, like cooked chicken or scrambled eggs?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.

Okay, that is great news! Bobo is not as sick as he wants you to believe.

His eyes may be uncomfortable from getting used to the new medications being applied to them, but they shouldn't sting in the long run.

I would try top dressing his dinner tonight with some human food that he likes and then tomorrow make him go back to his regular food.
