My Yorkie right eye is swollen. Walmart does not carry care

Customer Question

My Yorkie right eye is swollen. Walmart does not carry care for dog. I attempted to purchase eye drops to resolve the irritation. Is this safe?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Sneakers and he is 1 year old
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Sneakers?
Customer: I recently changed his food. He took well to it . This morning he got into a ash tray which I think started the irritation

My name is***** and I am sorry to hear that Sneakers has eye irritation. You can wash the eye with sterile saline eye lubricating drops from the pharmacy. Don't use visine, those drops can make the irritation worse.

You can also apply a warm compress over the eye to help improve circulation.

If the swelling is not much improved by morning, he needs to have your vet examine his eye and make sure he doesn't have a corneal ulcer.
