My dog's poo this morning actually looked like a delicate

Customer Question

my dog's poo this morning actually looked like a delicate (crushable) hollow tube of Styrofoam (about 4 inches long) with a regular looking section of feces at the end...never seen this before...
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Annie and she's 8 yr old min pin
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Annie?
Customer: about a month ago she had a serious bout with bacteria in her digestive track, but everything's been normal for weeks...

Hello, JACustomer. I have been a Veterinary Nurse for over 15 years and would be happy to help you today. I'm reviewing your question right now.

1) Has Annie consumed anything that she was not supposed to eat, such as stuffing from a toy or styrofoam?
2) Do you have a clear photograph to share of the stool?
3) How has her stool been since then?
4) Everything else normal? Eating? Drinking? Urinating?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
She eats all kinds of large bugs she catches in the yard, and will un-stuff toys (but doesn't eat the material. I haven't been able to check her stool since this morning, but she's acting/feeling great...

Chances are she ate something that caused her stool to look awkward and this is fairly common in dogs, in fact. I wouldn't be too concerned about this despite the odd nature of her stool, especially if she's feeling well. If you check her stool later on today and it looks abnormal, send a picture along and I'll see what I can do to help/determine what may have caused the appearance to change.
