Hello and thank you for your question.
Is it possible for me to obtain some additional information from you about your companion?
1) Where is she scratching and licking?
2) Any paw chewing?
3) Is she on any meds?
4) What breed?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Blue merle Australian Shepard 2 yrs old. Back quarters. No meds.

If she's not already on a flea prevention, this would be the first step. This is the most common reason we see hind quarter licking and chewing through the summer months. She may also have seasonal allergies and may respond to antihistamines, as well. I use and recommend Zyrtec. You can find the dosing here:
It may take a few days worth of dosing to notice a difference in her scratching and licking behavior, so be sure to continue dosing even if you don't see immediate improvements.
