Get Your Dog Care Questions Answered by Experts
My name is ***** ***** I have been a vet tech for 30+ years,
Can you tell me if the puppy is fully vaccinated for Parvo?
Could she have eaten something that should not have?
Do you give bones?
Checked for Parasites?
Has she been around other dogs or has been away from your home?
How long is this going on?
is there a lot of blood?
Withhold all food until tomorrow. Only give small amounts of water. We need the stomach to rest. You can give 1/4 of a 10 Pepcid AC to stop the vomiting. Tomorrow we will start a bland diet of skinless chicken breast 1 part boiled to 3 parts white rice. You can add a Teaspoon full of Pure canned pumpkin to the mixture and feed in small increments throughout the day. This is a bland diet and should help. I would get the puppy in for a Parvo test asap. Even with vaccines, it is possible to contract Parvo. Right now short of seeing a ER Vet, all you can so is supportive care and rest the stomach. I do urge you to have the Puppy seen asap. We cannot recommend Prescription medications for a situation like this. Only after a hands on exam can a Vet give medication legally.
