I'm sorry to hear of this with your puppy. He's a patient who needs to be hospitalized and administered critical care in the form of continued IV fluids, antibiotic therapy, pain control, antiemetic treatment, and nutrition. Repeated blood, plasma, or synthetic colloid transfusions are administered as often as needed. As ill as he is, his prognosis is good with correct therapy. Following an intensive treatment protocol, a 93-99% success rate is expected with severely ill, confirmed cases of parvovirus enteritis. I understand, however, that this will entail a considerable financial burden on caretakers. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
