My name is ***** ***** I have been a Vet tech for 30+ years.

Will she allow you to bathe her?

What kind of diet is she on?

Has she passed stool today?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I tried to clean her but she would not let me near her Anal area. She eats Iams wet has her whole life. She did pass stool but it got all stuck to her

But never this bad

If you can get her into a warm soak it can help soothe the area if you cannot get to it. For the stool start adding a table spoon of Pure canned Pumpkin, not pie filling to her diet. It is a high fiber food and very well accepted. This will help with the passing of the stool and should make it a lot easier. I would like to get a warm salt water compress on the anal glands to ease the pain, but the next best thing is the warm soak. I am afraid she will need to see the Vet to be sedated and have the glands expressed and be put on an antibiotic. You can give 1mg per pound of body weight of plain Benedryl if she cannot settle down and is uncomfortable. The key will be to soothe the area until she can be seen and have the glands expressed and the warm soak may offer a little relief.
