Customer Question

My dog sleeps with me. This morning I found a fully engorged tick which was dead on my bed. Does this mean the tick laid eggs on my dog and fell off? Or is it possible the tick died before laying eggs?

hello and thank you for using this site to help you. Adult ticks usually lay eggs in woodpiles, sheds etc. and when they hatch, they then infest grasses and plants until a suitable host come along such as an animal or human. So it is unlikely that the tick laid eggs on the dog. This site tells you how ticks are spread.
