Typically the worst we see with an ingestion of this type is vomiting and diarrhea. I would go ahead and start him on a bland diet of boiled rice and chicken breast to last for 3-5 days and hopefully keep his stomach calm during this time. If you see any vomiting, you can give 0.5mg/pound of body weight of famotidine (pepcid) every 12-24 hours as needed for nausea. If the vomiting persists, you'll need to see your vet for an injectable anti-emetic to help break the cycle of vomiting. The bland diet will also help to prevent diarrhea that may be associated with the ingestion of the dead fish. It's my hope that since he did not eat the whole fish and you were able to get it away from him quickly that you won't see any effects from this. Did my response help to answer all of the questions that you had regarding your companion? If you have other questions, please reply and I’ll help you further.Once you're satisfied with our dialogue, please take the time to use the star rating system at the top of the page to leave a rating for me.
