My 1 yr old Frenchie who is in her first heat was chewing on

Customer Question

Hi my 1 yr old Frenchie who is in her first heat was chewing on an antler when I noticed her face had some size bumps. I gave her 2 benadryl immediately. She is not having any problems breathing but I just not sure if I should go to emergency vet for injectable. Is 2 enough or should I give her more. I think the reaction was from a. Scented candle burning. Candle is gone and she is moved to a new room.

It sounds like this is just an allergic reaction. I would continue to give Benadryl over the next 24-48 hours. This will help prevent the reaction from coming back. The dose in dogs is 1-2 mg per lb body weight. It can be given every 6-8 hours, as needed.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
