Customer Question

Hi! I have a 30 lb 10 month old puppy that I just rescued. He grabbed a plastic container with a 60 mg Cymbalta in it. He didn't swallow it, he chewed at the casing. I am not sure if any got in his mouth. He seems fine. Anything I should do?

You needn't do anything out of the ordinary. Inducing emesis isn't necessary. Cymbalta (duloxetine) is one of the SSRNI drugs that as a class is well-tolerated by dogs. Even if a 30 lb dog ingested all of the 60 mg (2 mg/lb), adverse effects (mydriasis/wide open pupils), agitation, disorientation) aren't expected at that dose. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
