While both intracranial (within the skull) etiologies for seizures such as idiopathic (unknown cause) epilepsy and extracranial (outside the skull) etiologies such as a poorly functioning liver intoxicating the brain can be present in a young Yorkie, a poorly functioning liver must always be an important differential diagnosis in a young Yorkie. This is the breed most represented by a portosystemic shunt - an abnormality of the blood vessels in or around the liver. In this case you might find Si acting more "unbalanced" directly after eating. Please discuss a shunt with Si's vet. Serum bile acids is the blood test of choice for investigating the possibility of a shunt. If that test is abnormal, an ultrasound of Si's abdomen is indicated in an attempt to better understand teh health of his liver.

Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
