Is there any chance that she ingested a prescription drug, snail bait (metaldehyde), or rodent bait (bromethalin)? Does she have a history of seizures? How long has she been acting in this manner, please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

OK, I've gathered the info I need. Here are my differential diagnoses...

1) You have a normal dog demonstrating hyperkinetic "happy" spells. My patients might tear around the house or backyard like lunatics. This represents a burst of energy and endorphin release that's pleasurable to dogs. These can last 5-15 minutes or until the dog exhausts itself.

2) She's experiencing complex partial seizures. These are described as focal or asymmetric sensory or motor activity that may be accompanied by autonomic signs (salivation, vomiting, e.g.). There is a change in consciousness and/or behavior accompanying these seizures which are also called psychomotor seizures. These aren't expected to last more than 5 minutes.

3) She keeps ingesting a drug or chemical that agitates her - not likely when 3 episodes have been seen in 2 weeks.

The etiology of such behavior can be a challenge to clarify. A video of her activity would be very helpful to her vet. In cases such as these, a picture truly is worth more than a 1000 words. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
