Good evening - I'm Dr. Sara. I'm a licensed veterinarian who works exclusively with dogs and cats. Allergies are quite common, and we are seeing plenty of it at this time of year in my practice! To answer your question - yes, you can put benadryl gel or lotion on itchy areas - as long as they're not raw or ulcerated. Another option would be hydrocortisone lotions or sprays. There are also shampoos available over the counter with hydrocortisone or lidocaine to help with itching. A cool water bath can help some too, at least temporarily. Hopefully this should get her a little relief until you get in to your vet. What other questions can I answer for you?
