I've taken my 5 year old Samoyed to the vet on s right rear

Customer Question

I've taken my 5 year old Samoyed to the vet for limping on his right rear leg. X-rays were taken and diagnosed with arthritus. He currently takes Metacam, but now he is having trouble with both legs. They seem very stiff when he pulls himself up but loosen up when he stars walking. We have tried Rimadyl but he was getting sick. He doesn't show any evidence of being in pain by whining or yelping. This has been going on for over 6 months with multiple trips to the vet.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read aboutyour situation, and wanted to help.

Did they just xray the right leg? Or was the left xrayed to compare?

Did they also xray his hips? Any hip dysplasia seen?

Do you think he has reduced muscle mass over his back and hips?
