Hello. Thanks for the question.

You can do something to regain vision. It's called phacoemulsification. It's a process where the diabetic cataract is broken up and removed. As long as the retina is still healthy, it can be done to regain and retain vision in diabetic animals. It is done by a boarded veterinary ophthalmologist. This is fairly pricey, but it's a one time thing and it's the only way to regain vision.
