My dog has anaemia with a pcv of 13, he has a heart murmur

Customer Question

My dog has anaemia with a pcv of 13, he has a heart murmur which has increased to a grade 4 since this happened. Vets still not sure what is causing the anaemia no blood loss, no liver or kidney disease and from X-ray no tumours etc showing. IMHA is an option but so might bone marrow not producing RBC. I've just been up with him all night giving diuretic injections has he had some fluid on lungs however after 3 doses the coughing has stopped and he's been getting some sleep and more settled. He's drinking ok and able yo go out and urinate and I've also added some electrolyte mix to his water. My concern now is getting him to eat, I've tried s few things and moves toward the food but then turns away so seems to want to eat but not sure what?? He's on steroid and just had his 4 th dose so would like to give it time to see if it will help. Any advice you can give is much appreciated, thank you. Sue

When did he start refusing food?
Was it before or after the steroids were started?
Has Zack had any vomiting, retching, gagging, grass eating, or lip licking?
Has he had any black stools?
If you press on his belly, does he show any tenderness, tensing or discomfort?
