I would not use any Tizanidine in a dog. We don't have any safety studies to know what a safe dose would be. If you're looking for mild sedation, you could give Benadryl at home. This is very safe and can help take the edge off for nail trims. The dose range in dogs is 1-2 mg per lb body weight.

If Benadryl doesn't do it, then I would talk with your vet about using Acepromazine, Trazadone or Xanax. I would also try having someone feed treats or have her lick a spoon with peanut butter while you trim the nails. Distraction works very well.
